Warum der Umweg über CSV?

Weil ich keine Excel Datei in phpMyAdmin einspielen kann?

Warum Excel nicht gleich mit PHP auslesen? Auf ein Array, das wird serialisiert, von mir aus JSON, zum Webserver gesendet und dort per PHP in MySQL eingebaut. Das ist doch die einfachste Sache der Welt.
