htpasswd (passwort) mit PHP anlegen?

ich bekomme weder mit crypt() noch mit md5() ein Passwort welches der Apache (2.0 Win32) akzeptiert. Kann mir jemand helfen? Ich will (muss!) das Passwort mit PHP erstellen können...
