was kommt bei ps -aux|grep ftp raus?

da kommt nichts raus:
[root@host root]# ps -aux|grep ftp
[root@host root]#

wenn da kein ftp process rauskommt, solltest du den ftpd mal starten

[root@host root]# service ftpd start
ftpd: unrecognized service
