404 und Googlebot

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.example.com/fehlerseite.html
Wenn du das ErrorDocument mit HTTP-Protokoll angibst, bekommt der anfragende Client keinen 404-Status, sondern nur einen Redirect und darf sich das ErrorDocument auch noch selbst abholen. Das bekommt er dann mit Status 200 (OK).

Dann zeig mir doch bitte (Neugier!) außerdem den dazu passenden Eintrag aus der .htaccess. Nach dem Verhalten des Servers zu urteilen, der auf den Request direkt mit einem 404-Status antwortet, verweist du nämlich *nicht* per HTTP auf das ErrorDocument. Dann würde nämlich außerdem nicht mehr die ursprüngliche Request-URL in der Adresszeile stehen, sondern die des ErrorDocuments.
