box-sizing brauchst Du nur, wenn der Body border oder padding hat.
Unbedingt brauchen oder nicht, sinnvoll ist dieses Box-Modell allemal (in den meisten Fällen), wehalb mal gut daran tut, das für sämtliche Elemente und generierte Pseudoelemente zu setzen:
