I reviewed the whole incident log. I understand that chromesless window doesnt work anymore after Internet Explorer 6 SP 1 is installed. If I am off-base, please let me know.
Actually, the Internet Explorer dialog box that prompts you to confirm the running of an unsafe ActiveX control can be hidden by covering it with a chromeless window. As a result, there may be vulnerability in the unsafe ActiveX control dialog box. This may trick a user into accepting the installation of an unsafe ActiveX control. Furthermore, chromeless pages allow for spoofing and can be used to gather passwords, etc, and their availability to "non-trusted" sites represents security vulnerability. Therefore, this is a potential security hole and it is disabled in Internet Explorer 6 and SP1. As I know, there is no workaround currently.
In general, Service Pack is released to fix potential security issues and stability issues. Service Pack may also contain new features sometimes.
