schreibst Du allen Ernstes in jede Zelle <td class="standard">?
Gerade wo Du von vererben redest:

table.standard { attribute für table }
table.standard td { attribute für alle tds innerhalb dieser tabelle }
.standard { attribute für table, th und td }
