Hallo

Ich erhalte eine Fehlermeldung wenn ich das Debian Paket "parted" von starte.

Using /dev/hda
partition table on /dev/hda is inconsistent.  There are many reasons
why this might be the case.  However, the most likely reason is that Linux
detected the BIOS geometry for /dev/hda incorrectly.  GNU Parted suspects the
real geometry should be 9964/255/63 (not 158816/16/63).  You should check with
your BIOS first, as this may not be correct.  You can inform Linux by adding the
parameter hda=9964,255,63 to the command line.  See the LILO or GRUB
documentation for more information.  If you think Parted's suggested geometry is
correct, you may select Ignore to continue (and fix Linux later).  Otherwise,
select Cancel (and fix Linux and/or the BIOS now).

Information: The operating system thinks the geometry on /dev/hda is
158816/16/63.  Therefore, cylinder 1024 ends at 503.999M.

Kann jemand diese Fehlermeldung erläutern? Kann mir jemand erklären was an der Partitionstabelle falsch ist und wie ich den Fehler beheben kann? Bisher hat alles gut funktioniert...

    Hey TA,

    Lies einfach http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Large-Disk-HOWTO.html zur Beruhigung.
    Wenn es schon mit Debian läuft, gibt es doch auch kein Problem! Einzig
    DOS und Windoof könnten durcheinanderkommen, weil die sich eher an die
    Daten vom BIOS halten (CHS hat aber ansonsten heute kaum noch Bedeutung).

    Kernel 2.4 und 2.6 erkennen die Platte übrigens meist mit anderer Geometrie,
    weil sich die neueren Versionen gar nicht mehr darum scheren; und 2.4 die
    Daten vom BIOS (desöfteren falsch) nochmal mit denen direkt von der Platte
    abgleicht.

    P.S.: Ja ich wiss, daß man URLs in diesem Forum auch mit irgendwelchen
    bescheuerten BB-codes in Links verwandeln kann - aber es ist mir offen
    gestanden zu umständlich jetzt wieder drei Seiten zurückzugehen und die
    FAQ abzusuchen. Vielleicht bringt's eher was, den für nicht-eingeloggte
    User eh nutzlosen "Nachricht bewerten"-Absatz durch ein paar kurze
    Verweise oder Erklärung zu ersetzen?! *hint,hint*
