Ersteres funktioniert nicht. Siehe auch Backreferences.
Erst ausprobieren, dann posten: natürlich funktioniert ersteres, wenn du anstelle des Ausrufezeichens eine Nummer von 1 bis 9 notierst.
Ich persönlich kannte bisher nur \n und $n.
