Martinez: background

hi,

it seems that there is any limit in the size of a background image. because when I try to set my background it just doesnt show up, but when I reduce the size by 20 % it works.  couldnt find any info about that in the net, does anyone have experience with this very annoying thing?

greets

martinez

  1. Hi Martinez,

    it seems that there is any limit in the size of a background image.

    please define "size". Is it file size or image dimensions?

    because when I try to set my background it just doesnt show up, but when I reduce the size by 20 % it works.

    I assume you mean file size. Now please also tell us what browser(s) you have tried. From the information you have provided so far a helpful answer is almost impossible.

    Sorry i have no idea what youre doing . . . i hope your background image isnt 10mb or 60000 pixels width . thats normally unuseful.

    May u should use background-repeat.

    ?

  3. Hello Martinez,

    Normally a background image should have no limit like that one you described.
    How do you embed the background image? How does your background image look like?
    Precise CSS code please. ;)

    1. Simple solution:

      resize it to 500x400

      and then stretch it
      <img src="..." width="1000" height="800">

      greetz

      1. Lieber Frühstücker,

        resize it to 500x400

        and then stretch it
        <img src="..." width="1000" height="800">

        this is no solution. It is not even a workaround...

    2. Hi Martinez,

      you still don't tell us which browser you use.

      http://www.schloss-aigen.at/fondo_990.html

      and

      http://www.schloss-aigen.at/fondo_900.html

      in Firefox I can see the background image on both pages. I've tried Internet Explorer 5,5, Internet Explorer 6, Safari3(Win) and Opera9 and got the same result in all of them.

      1. yes, I found the bloody mistake, the f*** reading rights.
        When I edit a file, it changes automatically.
