it seems that there is any limit in the size of a background image.
please define "size". Is it file size or image dimensions?
because when I try to set my background it just doesnt show up, but when I reduce the size by 20 % it works.
I assume you mean file size. Now please also tell us what browser(s) you have tried. From the information you have provided so far a helpful answer is almost impossible.
