Dass es keine Methode »elementById« gibt? Google würde sagen: Meinten Sie »getElementById«?
Ferner: Vermeide Konstrukte à la »href=javascript:« und nutze Event-Handler. Die Attributwerte sollten besser in Anführungszeichen gesetzt werden: <div id="edit" style="visibility:hidden;">...</div>. Sieht zu Beginn nach mehr Tipparbeit aus, lohnt sich aber.
