Werte aus Datenbank in Dropdownliste

ich möchte Dropdownmenus erstellen, die die Werte aus der Datenbank enthalten:

<select>
  <option>WERT1 AUS TABELLE 1</option>
  <option>WERT2 AUS TABELLE 1</option>
  <option>...</option>
</select>

<select>
  <option>WERT1 AUS TABELLE 2</option>
  <option>WERT2 AUS TABELLE 2</option>
  <option>...</option>
</select>

...

Leider bekomme ich das nicht hin.
