Es gibt lediglich einen inkompatibblen Workaround

li{list-style:none; padding:20px;}
li:before{content:'$'; text-indent:-20px; padding-right:5px;}

Mit dem padding-right Wert musst die spielen. Er ist abhängig vom font.
