margin-bottom: 30; /*schiebt nichts hoch, wieso?*/
Weil erstens die Wertangabe ungültig ist, und zweitens ein margin-bottom nichts "hoch schiebt", sondern nachfolgende Elemente auf Abstand hält.
Ein Element nach oben "ziehen" funktioniert mit negativem margin-top.
