wieso können die geckos (firefox usw) das nicht genau wie der msie darstellen (der macht das ausnahmsweise mal richtig)?

so ein unfug ...

sachen wie:
  background:width:100px;

funktionieren auch nicht (einen versuch war es wert).

nein, das war ganz sicher keinen versuch wert - das sieht nach trial & error ganz ohne ahnung aus.
