Du meinst das Dollar-Zeichen? Dies soll nur verdeutlichen, dass das Kommando als normaler User ausgeführt werden kann. (Falls dies dem OP nicht bewusst war, so ist es ihm jetzt.)
siehste, mir sagte das nämlich auch rein gar nichts; ich habe auch überlegt, was es für eine Bedeutung haben könnte, eine Befehlszeile mit '$' zu beginnen. Als klassisches Prompt-Zeichen ist '>' wahrscheinlich verständlicher, weil verbreiteter.
