'onbeforeunload' gibt es durchaus.

Ja, weiß ich. Das feuert aber leider auch beim Navigieren innerhalb der Webseite, wenn ich z.B. auf einen Link klicke oder sonstwas.

Click the Back, Forward, Refresh, or Home button.
Click on an a that refers the browser to another Web page.

Ich würde mich aber gerne auf "Close the current browser window" beschränken.
