Wo müsste ich das dann angeben? Weil SO funktioniert das nicht:

box-sizing: border-box;
}

Für Firefox braucht man noch das Vendor-Prefix und für recht alte Versionen anderer Browser: <http://caniuse.com/#search=box-sizing>
